A quick note...if you originally hooked the modem to the laptop ethernet port then unplugged that and went from modem to desktop ethernet, it might not work because the router/ISP is still trying to hook up to the MAC address of the laptop NIC. Try plugging the ethernet from modem to desktop...

The information that the OEM version of the s/w will look for is IN the motherboard. It's not on a piece of paper attached to the motherboard. THAT is why Renob said it will only install on a system with a Dell mobo.
