    Windows 7 and memory utilization

I'm looking for an easy way to determine if a Windows 7 system has enough RAM installed to handle the OS and whatever software load the user is placing on it. I'm a few generations behind in that I only know the Windows XP spot-check method: Task Manager, Performance tab, and compare various...

    Touchsmart 300z, smart choice?

All-in-ones aren't generally regarded as powerhouse computers, so you might be asking a bit much as far as your stated needs go. While 4GB RAM should be sufficient in the short term, the fact that you can never upgrade beyond that is a serious limitation. Just my 2 cents.

    Memory problems, need advice

I appreciate the response. Indeed, it is a waste like you said. However, my plan was to have XP installed for only 1 week and install 7 when it arrives in a few days. So it made sense for me in the short term to install all 8GB to see if they would be recognized by the BIOS and pass a few...

    Memory problems, need advice

I am, yes. I didn't think it would cause any problems, only that XP would not "see" it. Enlighten me, please.

Help me find the right camera, please

All of my portable electronics charge via USB which is hugely convenient for me when I travel (often) and want to bring all of my gadgets yet still travel lightly. I should have mentioned that I rarely use the camera, so the likelihood of missing the perfect shot is rare. That said, if such...

Help me find the right camera, please

My needs are pretty simple: * Point and shoot * Compact. Subcompact okay too. * Under $250. Ideally, $200 or less. * Must be able to charge via USB - this is crucial. Specifically, I want the camera to have a standard USB mini device port used to both charge and transfer...

    Question on TRACERT command

Thank you! Perhaps I wasn't looking in the right places, but I could not find this.

    Question on TRACERT command

Using TRACERT in Windows XP, there is the -w switch that lets you set the timeout in milliseconds. I cannot find anywhere what the default timeout threshold is when no switch is used. Any ideas? Thanks.

    User error or bad hardware?

Thanks for the suggestions. All problems occured at idle, so idle temps were what I measured. I will, however, give Orthos a try. I may have solved the problem already, though. I never cleared the CMOS at any point in my previous troubleshoot attempts. Since I have done this, it has not...

    User error or bad hardware?

I experienced issues under both the BIOS revision it came with as well as the latest. Then again, is it possible that Windows would have been corrupted when installed under he original BIOS if indeed it was faulty? I should just reinstall for the sake of ruling this out...

    User error or bad hardware?

After 3.5 hours of MemTest86+, no errors. CPU temp according to Core Temp: Core0 23 degrees C / Core1 20 degrees C (measured at idle when the PC fails). ATI Tool fails. Specifically, when launched, it loads only in tray and chews up 50% of the CPU and fails to actually open. Double...
