I had a nightmare of a time trying to upgrade my video card.
My current MB won't post even when I put back in the old video card.
I am going to get the MB swapped out for a new one. My question is, if I install all of my components into the new MB, my XP is expecting my old video card, so...
I've had a problem with my MB not posting so I'm going to get a new one.
I was wondering if there is a way for me to remove the heatsink, fan, chip all at once so I do not have to add new compound or do anything else to it?
Also can someone provide insight or steps to actually removing these...
I tried to upgrade my old agp video card with a new pci one with dvi on it. What a headache.
First off, it killed my wireless networking setup for some reason. Now I can't get signal in my room. (No idea but that's not what I need desparate help for now)
When I decided to give up on the PCI...
Thanks,
But its a no go still.
Moved it one slot down and same problem. And I went with the PCI because all I need the card for is to utilize my LCD's DVI port.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Brian
I have a K7s5a MB which I was using an old AGP graphics card with.
I got in on this week's OM MadDog PCI FX5200 Plus Geforce PCI Card.
I went to my bios before I took out the AGP card and told it to disable the AGP and that I was using PCI video card. There was one option about IDE PCI? But...
I just got in on a WD 160 GB HD that was at a great price from OM a few weeks ago. However, it makes so much noise writing to the drive, but I can't understand why.
First off I have a WD 120 GB HD that is my primary drive. It is completely silent.
Now this 160 GB is my secondary drive, and...
Can anyone recommend a DVI card that is relatively cheap but good quality.
I'm not a gamer at all, just surf and watch dvd's. I do notice on my friends 1800FP with DVI the text is a lot crisper than my 1800FP no dvi
So I'm basically looking for a card to improve those two areas, and not...
A few months ago I jumped on a fry's mb/chip combo and I swapped out my old setup.
Later I bought a new antec case so I moved the new mb/chip.
So I wanted to put together my old initial setup. Some time passed as I got caught up with doing other things, but last weekend I put it together and...
Thanks for the prompt replies.
Possibly someone has an answer to another problem I have. I just got in on the DELL SC400 deal. Added a 120GB WD HD, which is recognized in the device manager, but not in windows explorer. Is this because I haven't NTFS partitioned it? Can i do this inside XP...
I builit a 1800xp with the ECS K7S5a board over the summer with one of fry's specials.
Its currently running a 512mb and a 256mb pc2700.
I just got a 400SC and upgraded it with a kingston 1gb pack

I currently use ebates, and right now they are offering 4% on Dell S&P, which I think is hot. But they take forever to mail out checks. How long does fatcash take and how is it in comparison.
Thanks
I wanted to know if anyone actually got all these coupon codes to work.
I found the 20 off using mastercard, but it says 'maybe not used with other promotions'
Then i talked to a crutchfield rep and they send the customer referral code was not stackable
So did anyone actually get this for $259...
Just a heads up.
I bought this case, at first I had my amd athlon 700 which used two fans to cool the chip. This factor prevented the case from being the revolutionary quiet it is advertised to be.
However now I'm running a athlon 1800xp with heatsink and it is considerably silent. And the...
So I installed my computer and right at the first boot there are a few issues:
The nusthell of the bios reads like this:
k7s5a Pro Release 1/21/2003
Processor 1150MHZ (Isn't a 1800xp suppose to be 1600mhz)
2621440kb (I believe this is correct because I installed 1 kbyte 256 PC2700)
CMOS...
