    PCMark Bias?

I didn't see this on DT, so I thought I'd put it up here. Ars Technica came up with some interesting finds about the PCMark2005 memory benchmark. There's some significant performance discrepancies when the CPUID is changed from CentaurHauls (VIA) to GenuineIntel. Here's the link Has AT...

    Copyright Law

I originally read this article when it was linked to from /. The author has a pretty innovative idea, perhaps it would be worth pushing it? Read it here. What do you think about copyright law? Does it work in it's current state? Why or why not?

Connection dropping issue (On T1-line using Linky WRT54G)

Is the firmware on the linksys up to date? I've had problems with dropped connections on a WRT54G because the firmware wasn't up to date. Also, consider using a 3rd party firmware since you have the 54G =P. I'm assuming that your apartment management splits the T1 across all the other...

    WRT 54G .... v6 T_T

Hey guys, So my grandparents bought a wrt54g... v6. It's neutered. I can't really get DD WRT onto it.. and the VXworks OS really sucks, I've been online 20 minutes and had to reset it 2 times. Even my grandmother, who just started to learn about yahoo email, complains about the resets...

Quiet and affordable CPU cooler for socket AM2?

There's alot more to a quiet system than just the CPU cooler. Try the P180. I'm using it right now and its awesome. Most of the stock tri-cool fans are quiet enough on low. Stick a Seasonic S-12 (do they make those anymore?) onto the case. Extremely quiet case. The loudest part is the hard...

    too many active ip connections?

you can also use the logging feature under the admin tab. Set it to high, and tell it to log everything. You will see the ports and the IPs of those connections. I had over 400 connections coming from one PC and while it was running no P2P clients. Turns out that the PC was compromised.

    A Solid Wireless Router

I actually just got the WHR HP G54 on Jack's advice =P. DD-WRT was a piece of cake to setup (Although I'm relatively proficient with computers and linux). Anyways, the range is pretty good, almost double of my old router. Stability seems fine, and I love the logging options + other features...

    Alternatives to storing electric energy

I remember watching a documentary on how hydrogen fuel cells would replace batteries, allow us to use renewable energy sources, and change the political landscape.

    Question about case

make sure the dvd + PSU are not too long combined

Boring saturday, feel like spending money that i dont have.

spraying the sides of your case with rubber will have minimal effectiveness. You'd be MUCH better off with a corsair HX series PSU (OEM seasonic + modular) and with Nexus or undervolted Yate Loon fans. Don't bother with using sound absorbing material unless you change the components first. It...

    Most Quiet Case??

mcurphy, read the SPCR review of the P180 first before you order the solo. IMO, the P180 is the quietest case hands down. The light in my room is louder than this baby =D

    Carbon Fiber case from Ultra.......

There's minimal heat transfer through the walls of the case anyways, most of it is through the vents. We were talking about this when everyone was debating about steel vs aluminum cases.

    Water or Air?

watercooling is rather high maintenance. You should really consider sticking to air unless you want the absolute quietest build possible and you're sure you want to OC. Since your components arn't designed for a quiet system anyways, I'd say only watercool if you plan to do intense OCing.

    radial bearings at 15000 rpm?

Yup, I was looking at boca's stuff. Seriously considering the hybrid ceramic bearings. Now if only the salesman would get back to me about the damn technical specs...
