I wouldn't worry about it :) Most of it got "squeezed" out anyway. That is what it was designed to do...get out of the way, and allow contact between the HS and the CPU...it just fills in the microscopic valleys on the HS and core, so that better contact is made. Your installation is fine :)

the cpu would be the last consideration in that situation. Anything over 500Mhz would be fine. Your major concerns would be RAM, video card and internet connection speed (512MB RAM, GF4 Ti4600 and DSL/Cable or higher would be nice :) )...

At stock speeds, that HS should work fine. If I were you, I'd save the money to upgrade to a DDR board, otherwise you will never tap the full potential of that 1800+...

I am actually beginning to wonder if there was good contact between to cpu and the HS...sounds almost like it was not installed properly, and did not have good contact.
