    Don't Laugh - Serious Question

IDontCare, those are very interesting graphs. Thanks! I think this will be a fun project. How low can I go. Heh. And Max, yes, I have seen this type of device before :) I generally dislike fans, especially the stand up kind. Hard to explain, they just annoy me.

    Don't Laugh - Serious Question

Ok, thanks everyone! These are some genuinely excellent comments, and suggestions for me to consider. I will certainly scope out those links as well. I definitely find myself leaning more towards computer efficiency these days, in contrast to all out Power & Speed; this results in a cooler...

    Don't Laugh - Serious Question

Ok, thank you for your informative responses. Perhaps it is my fat ass that is just generating too much heat :\

    Don't Laugh - Serious Question

"Its like will a 50W light bulb heat your room up?" In truth, I am not sure. When the system is overclocked, there is quite a bit of heat being generated out of the vents from the case. I keep the door closed (because I must - Kids sleeping), and I assumed that the heat would make somewhat...

    Don't Laugh - Serious Question

I guess I should add for clarification. The room isn't too large, approximately 120sq ft, and I keep it at 23.3C (~74 Fahrenheit). I assumed that the CPU running at 40-60C, depending on overclock/voltage, would add a fair amount of heat to the room.

First, thanks for your response. Second, is that 0.2C or 2C?

    Don't Laugh - Serious Question

I am getting too hot at night in my office (computer room). I have decided to revert my Core 2500k, which was running at 4700 mhz @ 1.38v, back to stock frequency; I honestly just don't need the extra juice at this time. I was wondering, perhaps at the default 3300mhz, I could even lower the...

Help with my Wife's PC build

Hi (old timer here), Pre-ramble: I am trying to build my wife a work-focused PC. As a Structural Engineer, she will use the machine primarily for AutoCAD work. Unfortunately, I am not very current on PC builds. I built mine 2 years ago, and it was designed around gaming. Stipulations...

Laugh of the day - NK nuke strike on white House

The UPS comment was great. The real issue with N.Korea, Iran, etc., in the long-run, is preventing access to nuclear material. Even these dimwits could eventually build a missule that works. Our biggest concrrn is the nuclear viability of that missile. If N.Korea shot off a nuke at us, yes...

Help with Server/Workstation Config - (Sorta clueless)

That is a good point. I will bring up your concerns and see if he understands the warranty and service trade-offs with self-built. Thanks.

    Help with building a workstation.

Makes sense. One last thing (I hope), with respect to the CPU, should be looking at an Intel Xeon processor?

    Help with building a workstation.

Thanks, this is fantastic. I appreciate you taking the time. Also, sorry about the fail-link. This looks very much like what I thought I should get. Really, the motherboard and CPU were throwing me off. I know Asus is a great motherboard maker for enthusiast systems. Do you think it's a good...
