I've got an Opteron 170 @ 2.7ghz / 1.55v and MBM5 is reporting 28C idle, I'm using a scythe ninja while piecing together a WC system, but I think these temps have to be wrong. Does anyone have any info about these boards and improper temp. reporting?
I think you'd be fine with either processor, but I think that you'd regret picking a 7900GT over a x1900xt. Honestly, if your already going that far, go for 165 and x1900xt and start warming up the ramen! :)
This is all excellent information so far, I'm gonna be overclocking an Opteron 165 and *might* think about putting my X1900XTX in the loop since its insanely loud @ 100% fanspeed.
The case I have is an Antec P180, am I going to be limited with options by using this case?
So far I'm...
I'm debating switching to water cooling with the arrival of my Opteron 165, I'd rather do a kit just because I don't have a ton of time to fiddle with DIY but I'd still consider it.
Thermaltake 745 looked like a viable option, price isn't a huge issue but I like to keep things within reason...
I'm rounding off my gaming rig and I'm looking to get a new processor. I'm fairly adept at overclocking so the idea of an Opteron 165/170 sounds pretty tempting.
Currently I'm using a 3200+ @ 2.7ghz
Would it be worth it to go with the dual core, I've read it doesn't improve gaming that...
I had the same decision to make a few days ago, I just went with whatever deal there was to be had and chose the HIS for 450 AR. Just arrived today, hopefully it'll get a decent overclock :)
Yeah, its really a matter of performance at high resolutions. I play everything too. From MMO's to FPS. Good info about the 1900XT, I only even looked at the XTX because of the 50 MIR on the XTX from HIS @ Newegg.
Also, I hear that nothing is coming out til fall from any video makers to...
I just got my 2405 FPW this last week and picked up Oblivion this weekend. I was wondering if the extra shaders on the 1900 series is worth it so I can squeeze a bit more performance out of this game. the HDR +AA patch has me hooked on ATI atm :)
I just picked up a 2405FPW, and I plan on upgrading my video cards soon to compensate for the 1920 x 1200 resolution.
I have a DFI SLI-DR Board with an X1800XT / A64 3800+ @ 2.8 Ghz / 2GB PC 4000 RAM / Seasonic S600 power supply... So going SLI won't be an issue
Would it make more sense to...
I could skip the upgrades all together and just get the game for my xbox 360.. but I do love my keyboard and mouse and the screenshots for the PC version look alot nicer :P
Yeah I should've added..
I'm running 2GB PC4000 at the moment but I'm also using a 2005FPW monitor so I do enjoy gaming at 1680x1050 so I'm not quite sure yet what kind've hit my card will take at that res
