    HelpDesk software recommendations

We use BMC Remedy. Its a workflow software that can be molded into doing a lot of things. It has LDAP/AD support. It is pricey but you get great support.

    Help me disable a computer.

Remove CPU out, remount heatsink so it is not obvious. Machine won't post. They should be able to troubleshoot by listening to the beep sequences on boot to find out its CPU related. If they start removing all hardwares, then they didn't troubleshoot correctly.

Where to get Liquid cooling set up and someone to install it

If you want to pay someone to install it, you might as well skip paying someone and overclocking it. Buy the faster more expensive computer/parts. Overclocking is a hobby and to save some money.

    Recommend me a case

You may want to set a budget so we can toss out some ideas around that price range.

Does more fans means more noise?

Update - After removing the fan pointing at the wrong direction of the heatsink AND removing the crazy loud Scythe Kaza (replacing it with the original Noctua fan). My CPU temperature remained the same which is great! I also removed the fan sitting on top of the HD Bay. The Scythe Kaza...

Does more fans means more noise?

Great catch!! I never noticed those arrows on the fan before. I was always wondering how you can tell the direction of the airflow on a fan. My way was always spinning it with my finger and feeling the flow. I guess that did not work! No wonder my noctua was sucking so much with its...

Hardrive recommendation for SQL Server 2008/web server

I'll say it again. Hardware is cheap compare to labor. Ask him how many hours will it take to "re-purpose" a drive. Include your time and the developers time to rebuild the system on a new drive / system. Just thinking about it and going back and forth to save a grand already cost your...

Does more fans means more noise?

This may sound like a silly question, but I am not sure. My system right now is incredibly noisy and I have about 8 fans altogether. Is the noise I am hearing an accummulation of all the fans together or is it the loudest fan I have ? I have the scythe ultra kaza which is the loudest at 46...

Need the expert(you) stamp of approval on this machine before purchase. Thank you.

You should be able to save 25% off if you buy everything "on sale". You can buy the same equipment type but by different manufacturers. There's no reason to stick to just for example G.Skill when OCZ/Corsair/etc is having a sale on RAM. Depending on your OC'ing plan, you may not need to go with...

Hardrive recommendation for SQL Server 2008/web server

Since you are going from 2 separate servers and being crammed into 1 Server to run mutiple VMs, I recommend you stick with the 15k HD. Check with capacity needed as the 15k are much smaller to support VM OS's and your databases. The increased in hardware cost is not much in comparison to...

    X58 Motherboard $150

Here's the funny thing. When X58 motherboards reaches the $150 price point, you will want the next and greatest motherboard that will be priced just like how the X58 is priced. Buy what you can today and not wait for price changes. Certainly wait until items go on sale but not until the a...

Is a Corsair 400 enough for my build?

http://www.antec.outervision.com/ Try this calculator. That corsair calculator was a "joke". It did not give any useful information.

Nephew Going to College. Recommendations for high end machine.

He has a budget. He does not want a laptop. He does not want to overclock. Like anything in life, the first 90% can be achieved easily. But if you want to be better or top notch, its much more. So he wants an insane over the top system and I see nothing wrong with that. I see more wrong in...
