Thanks everybody for the advice... now I suppose it's whichever one of the cards (8500 or ti4200) gets down to around $100 for the 128mb version first. Time to scour hot deals... :)
Ok, I've got a Tbird 1.4Ghz matched up with a geforce2gts 32mb right now, and it's slowly beginning to show its age. I suffered through the slideshow that was neverwinter nights, and now that i've got ut2003, things have slowed to a crawl. I've got an lcd monitor, so i'd like to be at its native...
Then what is that little white sticker on the bottom that says "WDC Serial Number" with the barcode then? (confused, since that barcode that indicates the model number is actually part of the capacity label sticker.
This part I know. The question, however, is which barcode is the upc: a) the one by itself on the bottom of the box (white sticker), or b) the one on the bottom of the capacity label (part of a larger yellow and white sticker).
I don't want to give these guys any reason at all to reject my...
Anybody know what pieces of the box go where? I see two barcodes on the box:
1) One that says 'WDC Serial Number' with a barcode.
2) One that looks like it's an extension of the capacity label, and says "Model:WD1200BBRTL", "Proof of Purchase", and has a yellow shaded box to the right...

Hm... getting a little worried about this rebate... just saw this posted on another site:
"Just spoke to bestbuy rebate center, they said if you get a pricematch it shows on the reciept as a discount and therefor you are not elligible for the rebate."
Does anybody's rebate receipt say there...
Got one at Best Buy B&M. They said that I could have the PM, but no rebate. On the PM form, they wrote that the cashier wasn't to give me the rebate forms, and that the 14day return policy was voided, since they PM'd and the competitor doesn't have any additional rebates available (like bestbuy...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but:
Refresh rate doesn't matter because LCDs don't refresh.
Alignment doesn't matter because, well, there's nothing (no rgb guns?) to align. Perhaps if you try the DVI connection, the signal will be cleaner.
Seems jagged cuz it's clearer?
I read on another site (f*tw*llet) that these ADU/Z models that are being shipped to us from Dell may in fact be refurbs/returns. Has anybody else heard anything about this? and if it's the case, 1) how can we tell? and 2) what can be done about it? :|
I think that's a bit of an overstatement. There may be some serious ghosting problems on many lcds (sonys in particular, it seems), but planars have always had a great reputation for gaming. I'm happily gaming away with a bunch of fps's, my ps2 and xbox all hooked up to my 18.1 planar, which on...
