    Gigabyte 965P DS3 rev 1.0 fastest memory i can use ?

Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 works perfectly too. The required voltage is 2.2 V but it works on stock 1.8 V well (Gigabyte P965-DS3). I successfully increased the memory clock from 400 MHz to 500 MHz (effective clock 1000 MHz) and P4300's FSB from 200 to 250 MHZ, which gained a 17% increase in...

gigabyte 965p-ds3:windows stalling during windows install

I installed Vista using my old NEC DVD-ROM. Make sure you set the right options in the BIOS: enable Gigabyte controller and set Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode to AHCI mode.

Confused: SATA, IDE, SCSI .....what is all this, what Do I need?

Your 2 PATA drives placed on the same IDE channel will work twice as slow if working together, e.g. when you copy files from one to another, comparing to 2PATA drives placed on 2 different channels or 2 SATA drives. Indeed, DS3 has only one IDE channel so that's your only option if you want to...

Confused: SATA, IDE, SCSI .....what is all this, what Do I need?

Just to clarify. Here we take into account 8b10b coding overhead, so the actual transfer rate is 1.2 Gbit/s (150 MB/s) for SATAI and 2.4 Gbit/s (300 MB/s) for SATAII. In other words, to transfer 8 bits, HDD in fact transfers 10.

Confused: SATA, IDE, SCSI .....what is all this, what Do I need?

Forget about SCSI, the drive and controller is too expensive, though the drive itself is much faster than IDE (PATA) or SATA. I also strongly believe that Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 doesn't have a SCSI controller so you'll have to buy that separately. SATA by design is somewhat faster than PATA but...

    DDR2-667Mhz showing as DDR2-333Mhz

Well, it doesn't matter. All Double Data Rate SDRAM including DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 double transfer rates. Thus a 333 MHz DDR2 chip has an effective clock rate of 2*333=667 MHz.

    Temperature monitoring programs

Just posted this in a different thread. It depends on what temperature you want. It can come either from the outer sensor or inner chip thermal diode. So the temperatures will be obviously different. I'm using both Gigabyte EasyTune and Core Temp and they show completely different...

Looking for AM2 temperature monitoring program...

It depends on what temperature you want. It can come either from the outer sensor or inner chip thermal diode. So the temperatures will be obviously different. I'm using both Gigabyte EasyTune and Core Temp and they show completely different measurements. Core Temp uses inner sensor and works...

    DDR2-667Mhz showing as DDR2-333Mhz

They show correct information. DDR-667 speed IS 333 MHz. RTFM.

    *** Official Gigabyte P965-DS3 Thread ***

I already saw this issue in this thread but no answer was posted. I have a secondary EIDE Seagate Barracuda drive and in order to make it work I set the following settings in BIOS: Onboard SATA/IDE: Enabled Onboard SATA/IDE Device Control Mode: AHCI. The computer shuts down well if I...
