    GTX 470, 460 or HD 5850

Good tips, thanks Evolucion. I definitely plan to overclock it. However, this will be my first time delving into custom built systems and OC'ing so I doubt that qualifies as "extreme" OC'ing.

    GTX 470, 460 or HD 5850

I've decided on the 5850. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for the slight boost in performance. The next step is settling on which one. I've been staring at a side by side comparison of the 5850s below for a while now and can't really tell them apart. They all seem to be virtually the...

    GTX 470, 460 or HD 5850

Where did you find the dimensions? I was looking around and found sizes for the 5850 to be around 14" long. Wouldn't that fit in a 19" deep case? I'm curious because my case is shorter at 18.3" (Antec 300) and want to make sure this isn't an issue.

    GTX 470, 460 or HD 5850

Sounds like 5850 is the way to go if we're willing to spend the extra dough.

    GTX 470, 460 or HD 5850

Yes I plan to OC. The 5870 is too expensive for me. From what I'm reading, the 5850 or 460 1gb may be the way to go. Also this rig will be in my living and I want it to be quiet, so maybe the extra load on my fans from a 470 would be a nuisance.

Here's what I want my mobo to do: 1. OC'ing (and simple since I'm a first timer) 2. single video card (470, 460, or 5850 still haven't decided) 3. SSD and large HDD There are so many mobo's out there. I would like some opinions from you guys. Thanks

    GTX 470, 460 or HD 5850

I'm seriously struggling with this decision. Help!! Is the 470 worth the temperature and power consumption? Is the HD 5850 a better compromise between performance and power/temp? Is the 460 better bang for your buck all around?
