Actually, looking at them now I realize I'm mistaken. The Seagate is a 7200rpm ATA100 and not a 5400 ATA133 (Barracuda 7200.8). D'oh! The WD is a Caviar WD1600. Still the same result? Thanks.

I found it Fry's for $130 a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't really looking for a new HD but 300 gigs for $130, how could you go wrong? So basically, I'm gonna get the same speed out of the firewire drive with either HD? Thanks for the reply and the welcome.

I've got a spare WD 160gb 7200rpm ata133 drive and newer Seagate 300gb 5400rpm ata133 and I'm trying to decide which to put into an external 3.5" 1394a enclosure. Would the 7200 be considerably quicker than the 5400, or will they both be about the same considering they're both ata133s? I...
