    *** Official ASUS P4P800/Deluxe (865PE) Thread ***

O.K., I don't get it. First off, my machine runs stable at 1:1. 200 Mhz FSB, with memory at SPD setting. So I KNOW that the memory is capable of running at 200 Mhz. Second, the CPU runs stable at 255 Mhz fsb. My 2.4C has a 12 multiplier, so this gets me 3.06 Ghz. Not the best overclocking 2.4...

    *** Official ASUS P4P800/Deluxe (865PE) Thread ***

Whenever you change your memory timings, it's always a good idea to run a memory test program to make sure your new timings will work for you. From what I've read, memtest86 is one of the better testers. Very easy to use. Try setting your dram burst length to 4, then make sure you're still...

    *** Official ASUS P4P800/Deluxe (865PE) Thread ***

The default high limit values that AsusProbe shows you are what Asus considers to be max safe temps (I believe). FWIW, my 2.4C overclocked to a bit over 3 idles with a CPU temp of 36 C, and a motherboard temp of 38C. At 100% CPU load, my temps hit 48 C CPU and 50 C motherboard. This is using a...

    *** Official ASUS P4P800/Deluxe (865PE) Thread ***

Hi kingofbongo, On page 2-18 of the ASUS P4 user guide: "If installing the ATi 9500 or 9700 Pro Series VGA cards, use only the card version PN xxx-xxxxx-30 or later, for optimum performance and overclocking stability." What version is your 9500 Pro?

    Ultimate Case

Gazza... Thanks for the link! Personally, I think that is the sweetest case I've ever laid eyes on. I gotta have it. When the wife asks why I just bought a brand new case, I'm blaming you.:)

Intel Does it again - First Prescott processors will not be compatible with current motherboards!!

Lots of people, (myself included), recently bought new motherboards because of a statement made by the manufacturer saying that their board would support Prescott. And I'm not so sure the manufacturer isn't correct... My P4P800 Deluxe User's Guide states (with my *emphasis* added): "...the...

Explain the RAM timings to me?

Corsair has an excellent guide to memory timings. Takes about five minutes to watch. Really good stuff.

My First Build, How'd I do?

Man, with all this great info, I'm thinking I shoulda started this as a "Hey, I'm doing my first build, and here's what I'm thinking of getting" thread, instead of a "This is what I bought" thread. Thinking about that Radeon 9500 really hard...

My First Build, How'd I do?

shootinyou... You and dmw16 have me convinced to look into the whole cooling thing a bit more. The SwiftTech you linked to does look sweet... I could put a nice quiet 90mm fan on it. The Alpha also looks good, and from what i've found, ranks right up at the top. What fans would you guys...

Thanks for all the replies, gents! Motoamd... Thanks for the link to the egg's WD 8 meg cache drive. I'm slapping myself over this one. Anyone using a Zalman CNPS 7000??

I just bought the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu (the all copper model, not the combo copper/aluminum one) for use on a P4P800 Deluxe. I researched air cooling solutions for hours before I decided on this one. Along the way, I did see a review of this cooler on one of the major hardware review sites (but...

My First Build, How'd I do?

Hey everyone, *clears throat, adjusts mic* "My name is Buzz, and I'm an ex-Mac user." Sigh... Resistance is futile; I have been assimilated.;) So I've entered the realm of the "PC enthusiast in training" (politically correct term for "n00b"?) My goal was to build a new system -my first- with...

    Recommendations for cooling my system.

Just spent some time reading the cooling reviews and tips at overclockers.com. Really good info. Check out their Heatsink and Watercooling Roundup" article. Lists just about every current air cooling solution available. I just purchased an Asus P4P800 Deluxe. I'm going with the Zalman...
