Hi Dannnnnnnnnnn You are not alone, and I don't believe in ghosts. My CanoScan D1250U2F also scans all by itself. It happens several times every day. I have it hooked up to a Dell Latitude laptop in a docking station. I am looking for help as well but if I find something I will let you know.
