    Also, this drive only burns dual-layer at 2.4X. The NEC 3500 burns dual-layers @ 4X. On a 9 GB DVD, that's the difference between 30 minutes and an hour.

    Optorite 12X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive, $60 shipped

    I purchased an 8X Optorite DVD+/-RW a couple of months ago. It worked fine for awhile, but a couple of weeks ago it had an error in the middle of a burn and hasn't been able to read anything since.
