    I don't think it's anything to do with the port used as it does it to both HDMI and VGA. Not only that, it hard freezes, necessitating a hard reset. Power cycling the display does nothing. It does it whether it's connected to a computer monitor (VGA) or LCD TV (HDMI). New motherboard should...

    So I swapped out the processor and thought everything was going well until it did it again. Taking the motherboard out and swapping it for an ASRock mobo. That better fix it.
