Possible to clone boot drive without losing activation?

I have ATI 10 Home. Never used it. I suppose I could see what the cost to upgrade would be. But, all else being equal, I'd prefer the freebie route. ;)

Possible to clone boot drive without losing activation?

I'm long overdue to learn about drive cloning but am finally starting the process. Regarding the above caveat, does Paragon's free edition have the same limitation dealing with the size of the destination and source being different?

    DDR3 compatibility?

I suppose. That's the only logical explanation. But when they click into place, I expect them to be properly seated. [shrug] But thanks to you guys for inspiring me to investigate this further. I'm happy to have 12GB DDR3 ram in my new SB build, even if it is of a Heinz 57 variety. ;)

    DDR3 compatibility?

Ok. You inspired me to investigate further. So I pulled the GSkill ram from slots 2 and 4 and inserted one stick of AData DDR3 ram in slot 2. The computer booted fine. So I added the 2nd stick of AData DDR3 ram to slot 4. Again, the computer booted fine. Hmm. So I moved the AData ram from...

    DDR3 compatibility?

I thought about that. But even if it checks good, I wouldn't use it exclusively since it's only 2x2GB. If it won't work with my 2x4GB sticks of G.Skill, it's of no use to me.

    First build:CPU insanely hot

Regarding method of applying TIM, I found this helpful to visualize what happens with the different methods: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyXLu1Ms-q4&feature=related

    DDR3 compatibility?

I just build a new system with an Asus P8Z68V Pro, i5-2500k, G.Skill DDR3-1333 (2x4GB) replacing on older P5BE/E6600/DDR2-800 system. Win7/64 HP on an Intel X25-M SSD (80GB.) BIOS 0902, and for the purposes of this post, the BIOS was pretty much default settings (no OC) except for some minor...

new RST driver from intel version 10.8.0.1003

Interesting. I have IRST v10.6.2.1001... which doesn't even show on the Intel site.

Intel Rapid Storage Tech and SpeedFan

In the process of a new build using a Corsair M4 64GB/v009 SSD/SATA3.0 for caching and an Hitachi 1TB/SATA3.0 mechanical drive on an Asus P8Z68V/i5-2400, I've noticed that SpeedFan 4.45 loses the SMART data and the HD temp data when I activate acceleration in IRST. If I disable acceleration...

ASUS Official Z68 Chipset Motherboards - Support Thread

Just found this thread as I look to learn about the P8Z68V Pro and i5-2500k. I built this a week ago and am still on default settings mostly (no OC yet.) My mobo came with 0706 and I flashed it to 0902. Running Win7/64 HP. I have an Intel X25-M 80Gb OS drive plugged into the Intel SATA3 port 2...

2.5 PATA for notebook - which one?

Actually, there is an SSD for PATA, but it's pretty expensive for what you get. IAC, the SSD was discussed in regards to getting a new el-cheapo laptop and putting an SSD in it. I elected to go the sub $50 upgrade the HD route.

2.5 PATA for notebook - which one?

What's the storage on the $64 SSD? I've already run this 80GB drive to 70GB or so. I run an Intel 80Gb SSD on my desktop and love it. It replaced the two failed WD740ADFD Raptors. OTOH, your solution becomes $400+ vs the under $50 I just spent. ;) Would it be helpful if I run an HDTune...

2.5 PATA for notebook - which one?

Thanks for the code! $47.99 with shipping made the sale. I've had good luck thus far with Samsung 3.5 inch drives (320Gb and 2TB drives). I've had bad luck with two WD OS drive failures last year. But WD's customer service is superb. Each has its appeal, but the price is too good to pass...

2.5 PATA for notebook - which one?

I'm in the same boat looking to replace the OEM drive in my old Asus Z71A laptop. It has an 80Gb ATA100 drive and is nearly full. The laptop, although slow by today's standards, is still functional. So I'm looking for a cheap upgrade to the HD. I'm tempted by the Samsung (~$53 at SuperBiiz...
