    DX11 gone from Windows 7

isn't subsequent releases of an API supposed to improve upon implementation efficiency. If MS let Nvidia and other GPU expert groups write the implentention specs, this definitely wouldn't have happened. Too bad there's no equivalent to JEDEC for the GPU companies.

LCD monitor or 1080p TV for PC?

I use a 720p in my living for my HTPC. It's worth it if, as child of wonder says, you're not too close. For my, when I am 5ft away it is great. If you're gonna use the display as a desk solution, you will probably wanna stay around a 32" 1080p HDTV. But if you're gonna game 5+ft away from...

Gaming, movies etc. on the big screen (40" Sony LCD HDTV)

I game on a 26" 720p and connect using DVI, and there are no problems. The cable is DVI-2-HDMI, and there are no problems. HDMI's video logic is DVI's, so there is no difference. HDMI saves you the trouble of sending 5.1 sound to the TV. If you're not worried about sending audio in the same...

Can a Corsair HX 520W PSU handle G92 GTS SLI?

Didn't think about it at the time because they were bashing other PSUs with a lesser $/W. I assume less is more, and since a mad customer would have translated into a bad review at the place of purchase, the reviewers must not have been talking out of their ****. But reading a professional...

Can a Corsair HX 520W PSU handle G92 GTS SLI?

I have the Corsair 620HX and it powers the below system just fine. You can rest assured nah. EDIT Whoops! You're using SLI. Yeah, as palladium says: go for the 620. The newegg reviews say its wattage rating is the most accurate and its stability AND quietness is unparalleled. I assume...

G92 is really an unfinished geforce 9?

Since Nvidia wants to follow Intel's refresh pattern, this cycle after a tech leap will produce only a smaller process and maybe 16 - 32 more SPs. But nothing else. It seems the G92 is already the 8800GTS of the D9x series.

Who else thinks the HD3870 sucks?

by Aiden The GT's $/performance is fabulous right now. Its stature as a GTX replacement makes sense only to people who can't wait for the middle-to-high-end 9000 series and don't already have a GTX or even in 2900XT or GTS. If you don't have one of those cards (GTX,GTS,2900XT), then $250...

Why are there never any MMO Video Card Reviews?

I have recently seen benches for NWN2, Oblivion, for the 8800GT, but older reviews I can't remember. NWN2 & Oblivion are excellent graphics-wise, older MMOs have a very similar graphics quality capability probably due to the scalability needed in an online world.

My $600 8800GTX and Quad core barely run Crysis!! WTF!!

Right. I spent only 2200 on my set up and that's with expensive cooling. I coworker had a friend who wanted a top of the line system but couldn't build one himself. He spent over $3K going with Dell. But even at $2200 or whatever, with a Q600, GTX Ultra/OC'ed, etc, you'd think games this...

They won the war of perception... When did 260+$ for a minimal card became cheap?

All the components' price/performance keep climbing as the prices' stay relative to the component's market while performance obviously climbs - look at the old pentium days when it was just released, the high-end CPU's went for a grand. And I remember the high-end Voodoo going for $600...

My $600 8800GTX and Quad core barely run Crysis!! WTF!!

I have yet to try Crysis with a setup similar to the OP's, but even older games (Heroes V) with all the eye candy turned on and at 1920x1080 grinds to a halt when I pan the camera around the map. I'd have to assume that developers are scrambling to keep up with the mult-core design on the GPU...

CRT making a weird ticking sound

My CRT years back would also making a noise similar to a tick but like a noise of a piece of plastic being let go of a forced position and stretching taught. Never had a real problem with it though. The symptoms you described are serious to warrant a new monitor.

    8800GT beats 8800GTX

The game might have a card detection error or execution issue phenomenon. I thought the GT was just a GTX with a newer process with less streaming processors and other exec units. The article could have cleared the confusion by stating the clocks for each of the cards. But ceteris parabis I...

the msi p35's early bios revisions have some faults in them even though I never encountered one with mine. Try going to MSI's site and doing live update - you'll get checksum error after reboot, but after that, my system is running ok with Steam.
