My router seems to be active all the time even though i'm not doing anything online. Is there a way to find out if somebody is connected to my router or not? Also how do you keep somebody from connecting to my router?

Well i'm thinking of building a comp for just mainly for storage and vid's (ie) movies, animes, tv shows, etc. Anyways, I need what kind of spec would suffice for such rig. I'm assuming I don't need to break bank to make this comp. What's the minimum requirement for such thing?
