I normally just build a new system every 2-3 years, but the core2duo has remained so viable that I'm thinking of just upgrading my existing system.
Here's my current build (from may 2007):

Asus P5B Deluxe/Wifi-AP - this is a P965 motherboard
2 gig corsair xms2 2gb...
The new ati card has already failed imo. erratic highs and lows relative to the 8800 are not worth the HUGE amount of power this card draws. The card may only be $399, but most people will probably need to spend $100+ on a new power supply to deal with this thing. I ordered my EVGA 8800GTS640...
I'm going to be building a new machine, mainly for gaming. I'd like advice on all of the parts I've selected. Thanks for any input.
Power Supply: I got an Ultra X-Finity 600w power supply for free from fry's. Thats the only component I'm relatively "locked into"

I won't be running SLI, and probably will not overclock this machine. I tend to build for low noise level more than anything else.
I'm going to get a 20" wide screen lcd btw (probably the dell ultra sharp or a samsung). So based on that, what videocard should I get.
I've been out of the loop for a while (law school has a way of taking up all your time) so I'm a little bit torn on a few aspects of the next system that I'm going to build. Thanks for any suggestions.
