    SLI choices

Good suggestions. I've put it all down and weighed the pros and cons (so much easier to see on "paper") and it doesn't seem worth it to chase an SLI solution at this time, at least for me. It would require purchasing another 8800gt, cooler, and motherboard to support them and, honestly, it...

    SLI choices

I think my biggest question is (and m'be I should change the topic to it)- SLI, is it worth the headache? The reviews I've read so far have put some question into nV boards and their stability. I'd drop an additional $100+ on a faster single card and a stable board rather than struggling with...

    SLI choices

I'm in the process of upgrading my system and want to give SLI a try. What is the best choice for a stable, future proof, yet overclockable mb? I'm in a comfortable place in life at the moment so cost isn't my biggest worry- but headache is. A mb/chipset that is nothing but a constant battle...

    8800gt fan header

I hadn't immediately considered the amp load for a fan upgrade. Although it certainly would be more convenient approach to use the card's onboard header as well as utilize its heat sensors for speed regulation, overall, it seems a questionable approach. I've done some digging and I should be...

    8800gt fan header

Honestly, I don't know but pretty much doubt it. This is a Mac Pro (2008), so its not really built with extras in mind and a hardware manual is not supplied. I can, however, start pulling things out and see what is exposed. That and look to see if I can dig up a manual at work (which is likely).

    8800gt fan header

This is a bit of a cross over subject into video, but, I'm planning on replacing the stock fan on my 8800gt with a Thermalright HR-03 GT and a 92 or 120mm fan. The only problem is that my motherboard does not have onboard fan headers. This is in a Mac Pro and, of course, Apple assumes (and...

    Low db 40mm 12v .18a fan

Woodbutcher- I like Scythe, too. Thinking that the amperage didn't matter, I bought some of those EXACT same fans, but, like I listed above, they are stationary when plugged into the onboard power. If I blow into them, they spin, but I don't think thats the point.... ;)

    Low db 40mm 12v .18a fan

Well, I have a .07a fan and, when plugged into the three pin connector of the .18a fan, it does nothing. On a lark I plugged in a .10a fan and it roasted. I assume that the connector has a specific range of amperage that is limiting my selection of available fans. This is my reasoning for...

    Low db 40mm 12v .18a fan

The subject pretty much says it. I'm looking for a low db 40mm 12v .18a fan to replace some switch fans that, well, sound like a jet plane taking off. I've done some shopping and most of the fans, if listed, run at .07a, which just won't work at .18a. Currently the switch is so loud that its...

A thought occurred to me- should I tape the threads for the fittings to make it more water tight? I haven't seen any mention of that.

Ok, I've finally gotten my RMA for my Koolance and am putting down the dough for the EK-FC88. My question is- is there an issue with nickel? The EK-FC88 comes in copper and nickel, the latter slightly more expensive and more available than the former. I've seen some waterblocks come with...

I'm in California, which, in a way, is its own country. ;) I've been shopping at http://www.performance-pcs.com and they've been very easy to use. At this point, since I'm doing mostly exchanges, my shopping alternates are slimmer. I've been messing around with computers for a while...

The fusion block is the chipset cooler built into the motherboard on the Asus Maximus Formula. Its also solid copper, so I'm going to go with the EK-FC88 cu thinking that it couldn't make anything worse. And are you recommending the D-Tek Fluid XP+ Vortex XP? Shadow CPU Water Block over the...

I'm about to crash (I work nights) but I hope to be able to arrange for an RMA and exchange on my not yet arrived Koolance for the EK tomorrow. One last question, though, is there any real reasonable difference between the Black Ice radiator models? Such as the Black Ice Xtreme 2 High...
