I have 2x OCZ 30gb core drives in Raid 0 and they perform very well. All I did was make the raid partition 128bit stripe, disabled windows search, indexing and superfetch. (Which I also did with my WD640AAKS's) I've never noticed any stuttering of any kind. Everything works pretty smoothly.

I use my Panasonic 42" Plasma for console & PC gaming. I also use it as a PC monitor. 2007 & 2008 Panasonic Plasma models are great. No burn in due to pixel shift and IR fades quickly. Draw back to Plasmas are the weight and power consumption compared to LCD screens though.

Even long time tweakers run into "user errors" from time to time. Sounds like its time for you to get down to basics, unplug peripherals not needed, cd drives, sound cards, PCI cards, reseat cpu/ram, run bios defaults, etc.
