When I was building my new system, I thought long and hard about getting 2TB 7200rpm drives for my new RAID, but I am now very glad that I went with 'green' drives. My 4 samsung 2tb green drives do about 300MB/sec in my Areca RAID5: Perfect for media, backup, and other long term storage...

I have 4 of these in a RAID5 on an Areca 1220 hardware controller. The controller is expensive ($400 for the 8 channel and $200 for the 4 channel), but IMHO it is worth it compared to software solutions.
