Yes you must remove the board. No its not going to make one bit of a difference even with the zalman, just take the fan off and forgo looks for functioning.
I just installed my 9500 non pro, reflashed the bios, and the card died! The system doesnt appear to boot without video either!! I think I'm SOL unless I can find a PCI video card to reflash the card with! Crap!!
Edit: Installed a PCI video card, reflashed with original bios, back up and...
The chip is in a socket (if it was soldered to the board, it would be pass-through and not surface)
The newer mobile XP's are a possibility, they have all I want, although you have to pay out the noise for one, if it can be done hacking a desktop chip to work would be much much cheaper.
Currently I'm trying to figure out a way to replace the Athlon 4 chip in my HP ZE1210.
After hours searching everywhere, I've only come up with limited information.
As far as I can tell the Mobile Athlon 4 identical to the desktop Athlon XP except that the L1 bridges are unlocked, and the...
Scored one! I drove an hour to, and an hour back to a store 2 cities away, and they didnt even have it! Although I aranged with the manager before going for a "save the sale" and they are going to ship one from another staples in another state to me. So I have a bunch of reciepts and rebate...
I'm still peeved about the y cable power splitter I bought from them.
Whoever made the thing, put the wrong connections on the ends (two male, 1 female), so you couldnt even use the thing! I had to cut it apart and solder the right connection on the end.
I looked at the picture on their web...
The WD 120JB drive does about 13.8ms access time, and its the current champ of 7200rpm drives (atleast until DiamondMax Plus 9, Drivezilla, or any other 80gig/platter disks come out). And accoustically its a very loud, So access latency is apparently not as important as other factors that make...
My thoughts exactly.
Yes its only a 40 gig drive, with 1 platter and 1 head
So the Plus 9 series with multiple heads and platter should be very nice.
I havent checked for accoustic managment (probably on), I'll do that now and report back in a second.
I just installed a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 in my computer, it was annouced about a week ago, but no public reviews or even pictures so I thought I'd post a quick preview of what the drive is capable of doing. Remember that this is the lower class "Plus 8" drive (still 7200rpm, 80gig per...
Thanks!
Before your post I dug out my 120 gig drive, used Drive Image 5.01 to copy the entire raid array onto the 120 gig drive, although it never worked. It took 1.5 hours just to copy 80 gigs, and the new partition would boot on the 120 gig drive, but windows would be stuck at the login...
The drive has NOT died, I'm just replacing it with a non-defective (read: quiet) identical model.
Yes, the drive is read logically, but I CAN give each drive its own channel by connecting them to the onboard IDE controller (not the Highpoint Raid controller), and copy the defective drive to the...
I just finished setting up my Raid 0 array using two Maxtor DX740-L drives I picked up through Office Depots deals I found out about on the Hot Deals section.
One of the drives appears to be defective and is making a really loud whine (the other drive is silent).
Maxtor is sending out a new...
Cool page. You were right and it was the 3rd L1 that was open and then later shorting with ground (why 12x turned into 6x, then later 10x). Its all working now, although my 1800mhz doesnt seem like to much anymore with the 2.5ghz AMD's around the corner :P
