The E6600 is a nice chip. I've got mine overclocked from 2.4ghz to 3.24ghz without even touching the voltages. The Intel D975XBX2 (Bad Axe 2) is rock solid and stable, and unlike every other board I've ever owned has zero capacitor whine. Paired with 4gb (kind of overkill) of overclocked ram and...
Just wanted to add ... the problem with Supreme Commander only happens when I've alt-tabbed out of a game and back in from Vista 64. 99.9% sure it's a driver issue.
I have the exact same problem using HL2e1. It will error out with the same messages when loading from certain savegames, and sometimes when loading new areas. I noticed that after playing for a while the save game icons will be garbled and the saves rendered useless with crashes if I load them...
I have an E6600 running on an Intel D975XBX2 and it's completely stable at 3.24ghz (360 FSB) on stock vCore, vMCH and cFSB settings. My OCZ PC6400 Plat R2 ram (4x1gb) are running the stock 4-4-4-15 at 1.92v on the default 1066 strap. Coretemps idle under 30c and the only thing really generating...
Just wondering if these temperatures are normal, and if I should get a separate fan for my Northbridge/Southbridge on my D975XBX2.
I have an Intel Bad Axe 2 running an E6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz (with no voltage tweaks of any kind ... everything running stock), with 4gb in 4 sticks of OCZ...
No fan plugged in at all. The only board-monitored fan I have running is right next to the Ninja Heatsink at the back of the case. Everything else reports zero fan speed.
Still a bit concerned about the capacitors touching the bracket but there seem to be a lot of people with the Bad Axe 2 /...
I have the exact same board and heatsink ... set it up this past monday on a C2D 6600 and everything works perfectly. I'm not overclocking at all and have no fan attached to the Ninja Rev B ... the system is almost totally silent and the CPU reading never goes above 45 degrees.
The Ninja...
Thanks a lot for the reply.
The memory I chose because, combined with the eVGA m/b at newegg, there's $15 off and a $40 rebate that makes it about the same price as the low-end ram.
I don't know if I'll ever go SLI but I thought it was a good option to leave open. Plus I've had good...
I'm sorry to add to the never-ending string of "help me with my build" threads, but, please ... "help me with my build." :)
My current setup is as follows:
AMD 64 3200
Abit KV8-Max3
eVGA 7800gs AGP
1gb Corsair DDR ram
Antec TruePower 430
WD Raptor 74gb
Seagate 320gb .10
Antec P180...
I wouldn't ship it with the ninja attached ... just thought I could attach it to test, then remove it and ship the ninja separately. I'm assuming the ninja is just as easy to attach as the zalman ... seems to have a back plate as well.
He's really stoked on the idea of using the ninja now...
Ok I'm dumb. Found the Ninja on newegg.
So you think the Ninja here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185001
is better than the Scythe Mine cooler here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185023
I see the second one has the fan mounted right...
Newegg doesn't sell the Ninja does it? I've been looking for a good cpu heatsink but am just going with was good a few years ago. What else would you recommend? Thanks for the input btw.
