Windoze wise, perhaps something like this would do the trick: Win 98 OEM No CD Im sure you could find a similar offer cheaper elsewhere of course. Linux wise, I was trying out a new distro last night - Its called SimplyMEPIS and appears to be a simplified Debian disto. GUI is the...

Linux with the most windows-like experience?

This link may be of use: http://www.rodsbooks.com/distribs/ It sumarises the strengths and weakness of several popular linux distributions from the viewpoint of novice users. I have used both KDE (with SUSE) and GNOME (with REDHAT), and cannot say that I feel either of these Linux GUIs...

windows xp stops responding on install at 34 mins left

Could you be more specific about where the installation hangs - is it during the hardware detection stage for example? If this is the case remove any graphics or pci hardware if possible. I am unable to install windows with my Ati Radeon 9800 Pro card, so I swap it out for an old avance...

Whats it mean when I am getting -61.98v on the -5v line of a PSU?

Alm, post all your readings. The +5v rail is the important one. Most BIOS dont display the -5v as it is no longer used in modern equiptment: BTX mobos will only have the +5v which powers the CPU. If the -5 is the only reading given, then assume this is the +5v rail.

UPDATED again: Still need help, computer reboots and gets to the winXP logo screen and reboots again

Check this link out:- Link: 1)As it points out, older Micron (AKA Crucial) 2700 ram is known to be incompatible with your particular board. If your ram is indeed 2700 then this is the most likely problem. Make sure quick boot is DISABLED in the bios, as this will run a limited memory...

Why is Sata Drive appearing as "Safely Removeable Hardware"

Yes, it is normal. One of serial ata's selling points is that such devices are hot-swappable, unlike IDE drives which must be disconected while the PC is powered down. Windows still likes to know that a device will be disconected. however, as unplugging a drive when it is being accessed can...
