Well, I only used a plextor sata drive and i never made coaster with it yet, even made perfect backups with certain games, with plextor pro tools. That's the main reason i usually go for plextor there just a bit more pricey then most dvd burners. so i thought i see what others thought of...

You could have something like cool and quiet turned on in bios programs in mobo like that have been known make a fan stop running if it doesn't feel it needs it.

Well, Reason i go with sata is i have only 2 ide interfaces and ide drives are slow. But i would go with a ide if it was better, I have a sata dvd burner now it always works great. I just wanted something newer.

You need to upgrade your video card And you need to switch to sata drives not many new boards have many ide slots if any at all. Core 2 faster and can overclock better then AMD X2 and there not much of a price difference for most. and you can get a good board for overclocking cheap with core 2...
