It messed my afterburner up also, but i was running version 4.2.0. I downloaded 4.3.0 and afterburner works fine now. I have 290x also.

Doesn't hurt that chrome seems to be packaged with alot of programs. I don't know how many programs i have downloaded and installed without them asking me if i want to install chrome.

Did you try disk management and right click on new HD and initialize it.

Does Civ 5 use physx? I know DAO didn't run as well on my ATI card compared to old Nvidia one i had even though every other game i own work much better.

Well, computer ran stable for about 40 minutes before locking up. Would not post at all when i rebooted. I believe i have checked all possible problems other than new mb/cpu. Any other suggestion?

Thought of that after my initial post. Still had a lockup, then locked up at post. Put back in original PS and booted up then locked up in windows.

Right click desktop, pick personalize on menu then scroll to basic themes and pick one of your choice.

Sounds like a scaling issue. Look in your display properties for scaling options.

We use webroot business at our work and have not seen or heard of anyone getting smitfraud. Do not know the pricing though, sorry.

Also turning off UAC will disable it no matter if its enabled in IE.

Did you check BIOS time? I had issue like that long time ago and it was BIOS problem. I upgraded BIOS and changed out MB battery and it fixed my problem.

I've always had issues(mainly vista) when installing new hardware espicially motherboards without doing fresh install of operating system. Couple times system wouldn't even boot to windows. Probably your best bet would be get new hardware then upgrade to Win7.
