I've owned all types of motherboards, and in my experience, the most stable, trouble-free platform I've used has/is the Nforce4. Next is Nforce2, then Intel, AMD, Via.

Get the 20-24pin adapter. It costs $5, and saves lots of potential hassle. It's a no brainer really. I've been using the adapter with my Enermax and A8N-SLI and it works perfectly, as it should.
