I've just purchased a router that be flashed with OpenWRT or Lede -- the WD My Net N750 router. Three people will share one internet service. Their internet service is not unlimited. It is metered and pricey. Amy will have just one laptop. Britney will have a laptop and smartphone. Courtney...

hi, batmeat. nice to hear from another exotic-sounding food! Yeah, I didn't think eyeballing the SSD would help. I thought maybe there was a program or software we can run?

How to test SSD's physical health (bumps/falls)

I'm considering buying a new SSD from a private seller (Craigslist). It's sealed in the original blister pack sorta package. But it may have had falls or bumps. Is there some way to check the physical health of the SSD? I run Linux Mint 17.1, if that matters.

Internet shared between 3 people. How to monitor bandwidth?

No one is gaming, netflixing, or torrenting. If I understand you correctly, you're saying that the number of routers necessary is one less than the number of users. If you have 5 users, you'd need 4 routers. If there's 10 users, you'd need 9 routers. Yikes! I wanted to save money. I thought...

Internet shared between 3 people. How to monitor bandwidth?

Thanks for your reply, Larry. I'm not a really techie. i'm now leaning towards getting a basic router that can do WRT. is that bad? Hmmm... wasn't even aware of this phenomenon. I thought every bit or byte is linked to some device. Didn't know there was such a thing as unaccounted packets.

    which board (Core i3-6100,Radeon R9 390, USB keybd&mouse, 3 SATA HDD/SDD)

ltc8k6, virtualLarry, the drives may be old in terms of its birthday, but it's been not been powered on for many years (around 8 years). So the drives don't have many spins to them. :)

    which board (Core i3-6100,Radeon R9 390, USB keybd&mouse, 3 SATA HDD/SDD)

LTC8K6, you don't know the speed of my HDDs, and yet you imply they're slow. One's a 10,000 RPM Raptor. The other is 7,500 RPM.
