FWIW, WRT battery in or out: BestBuy always removes the batteries (or they walk away) and their demo machines seem to be working fine (last I checked.) It would probably extend the life of the battery if it were only inserted periodically (say every two weeks or so and then used.)

MDE, Er, had to send my m6807 back today. The display was defective. Admittedly, it would still make a good compute server, but it makes a horrific laptop with no display.

aquamd, If you still don't have any fan noise (which should almost always be there) take this poor broken down DOA box back to CC pronto and demand a replacement! Fan should make noise even if it's on your lap.....
