On a semi-related note, does IO Magic make their own drives? I have two 16x DVD drives from them, but one is a Lite-On LTD 163, and the other is a "DVSKOREA."

I'm assuming you're using an APC UPS? Just use XP's built-in thing. You get a pop-up message when the power fails, and it shutdowns after a specified amount of time. I chucked powerchute when it didn't want to work in 98SE ( bear in mind I have the Back-up UPS ES which uses the serial port )...
