    Garage/workshop build (lots of images)

I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread but use some 1/2" plywood and paint it. You can clean it easily, install hangers on it if you need to and it will take the abuse better than drywall.

Camaro owner records mechanics abusing car, scheming to get damages paid for

That's why I prefer my small-town dealership. If they tried to pull something like that the entire town would hear about it and business would become rather difficult.

So my coworker comes up to me

I would say that it depends on the application. I think with standard manuals it can make a difference. I read somewhere that Corvette has stuck with the 6 spd because it can hit 60 mph in 1st gear. Without shifting they are constantly accelerating which gets them the lowest 0-60 times. With...

    Garage/workshop build (lots of images)

One suggestion on the walls: run a row of 4x8 sheets of 3/4 plywood (on it side) around the whole perimeter. The plywood will take a beating much better than the sheetrock when say a tire rolls away and hits the wall. It is also really nice to be able to just stick a nail in it to hang...

Rant: windshield wiper arm vs. refill

I have wondered where the refills went as well. I used to replace the inserts every spring and fall because driving in northern Minn is hard on blades. Salt and sand in the winter and dirt roads in the summer can ruin a good set of blades pretty quickly.

    Ducting Insulation

If your duct work is screwed together I would pick up a nut driver screwdriver if you don't have one. The screws could be 1/4 or 5/16. It works much better than using a straightblade when you need to take it apart. Check the price of the insulated flexible duct. Sometimes it is cheaper to...

    Car repair cost question

I would take it to a GM Dealer because they are running some decent deals right now. Brake pads for $75 installed. I am sure replacing the rotors wouldn't add much to the price. The also have a oil-change, tire-rotation, inspection for $30. http://certifiedservice.chevrolet.com/offers/ If...

    Best contact solution?

This. Never been more satisfied by a contact solution. I have had contacts for about 10 years now and have used the standard rub req'd solution, no-rub, and now the hydrogen peroxide solution (Clear Care). I keep my lenses for about 4 weeks and before using Clear Care, a new pair of contacts...

    Dyno-Tested: 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 vs 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

"Nobody at GM would willingly allow any car in their stable to out-power the ZR1, their flagship sports car, so they're dealing with a pecking order situation. It's an artificial power cap that the GT500 simply does not have to contend with."...

    Got into an accident...insurance question.

I have dealt with insurance companies a lot recently. In February, my wife was rear-ended by someone. We contacted OUR insurance company because we have full coverage. We figured we'd get it fixed right away and then let our ins. co. go after the other person because it was clearly their...

In the market for a laptop

I'm a software guy who is also going back to school. I was able to pick up a lenovo T410s for $700 last fall. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834146927 I went the light and portable route because we have a decent computer lab at school and my programing is mostly done on remote...
