I have a collection of short films in a series of folders that I want to generate a menu for- in the easiest and quickest manner.
If it was just one small project/only a few movies, I could just break out notepad and do it all in html, but this is a bunch of projects with quite a few...
Ratman6161, is that ATA33 slower with everything you do? Do web pages take forever to load?
I went with the Bigfoot because it seemed like a quality drive, but I have other alternatives. Thanks to my penchant for grabbing PCs from the side of the street on garbage day, I have a pretty large...
I'm doing a build for a friend with a tight budget who's never used a PC in his life. Needless to say, he's not going to be doing anything advanced like video encoding, photo retouching or gaming. At the most I expect he'll surf, do emails and maybe a word doc or two.
What's the lowest you'd go?
I'm putting together a system for a financially challenged friend, and, so far, the only drive I've been able to get my hands on is an old Quantum Bigfoot 12.9 gb ATA-33 hard drive.
I'm pairing this drive with fairly respectable new components:
GIGABYTE GA-MA69VM-S2 AM2 (open box)

I've been working on a home grown air compressor workaround to dusting electronics, but that's turning out to be a later rather than sooner proposition. In the meantime, these are great.

I might purchase a video card...

Secondly, PSU purchases are an especially risky endeavor these days...
I can't believe that Fry's never fixed the rebate link.
Here's what I got from customer service via email

P.S. My free webpage gives me limited bandwith, so this link may not stay active long. Please, if you don't need this rebate...
With DDR2 going for as low as $16 per gig (AR), DDR has a long way to go.
Also, I may be wrong about this, but I've heard that DDR memory is no longer being manufactured. If this is true, the price is only going to go up as availability ebbs. So not only is DDR2 beating the pants off DDR...
DVD burning can be incredibly complicated. I've been reading as much as I can and am still a long ways from feeling like I understand it completely. Here's what I have learned so far.
1. Some players seem to like -R and some +R
2. Some burners seem to like -R and some +R
It isn't...
