Had a similar issue, just rebuilt my computer (phenom 9850, radeon HD 3650) install the drivers for my video card and never see a picture again on a reboot. Tried both XP And Vista and the result for me is that using the DVI cables theres an issue. ATI is aware and unsure what the issue is...
