Damn Small Linux, which is based on Debian. It's designed to run from CD, yes, but it makes a very nice distro to put on slower machines. It's optimised to use very little of... well, anything.
You said "emerge ati-drivers," I'm on Debian, not Gentoo...
As for the config thing, that's what I did. I followed the tutorial on linuxquestions.org and did the make xconfig thing and just copied my old config file from /boot. So that might not be it, but I'll try again later. I can't do...
How would I go about doing that? I'm very much so a newb when it comes to most anything Linux. I've fooled around with it for about a year now, but this is the first real "in depth" thing I've ever done. And leaping head first into was probably a bad idea, but I'm open and am willing to...
I remember once, a couple of months ago, when I went to install the nVidia graphics drivers on my computer. I just went to nVidia's site and downloaded the file. I ran it, rebooted, all was good. Fast-forward to today, where I'm trying to install the ATI drivers under Debian (same distro as...
Alright, I had encrypted files and totally ignored the key thing (go figure!!). I haven't reinstalled windows, however, I just changed my user password and now it won't let me access the files. I've changed my password to what it used to be (or what I thought it used to be anyway) and various...
I tried to change the default icon of a folder and, finding no other ways, I tried to do it via Tools>Folder Options>File Types. Well, I managed to change it for File Folder, but it didn't display differently. That's alright with me, I could live without it. But, I then went to navigate to...
Yay... I did the parallel installation of XP and loaded the hive and changed the auto reboot (it was under ControlSet002, there was no CurrentControlSet, though there is in the parallel installation of XP...) from 1 to 0. I reboot, and what do I get? A message saying that the registry is...
Ah! The most recent boot up took 13 times! I dunno if this is a sign that it's getting worse or not. Did ya get anything out of the minidump I sent ya yet, smilin?
OK, most recent minidump sent. Here, this is interesting:
Error Statistics
I started recording what was happening and it isn't nearly as bad as it used to be, but it's still an issue...
OK, after getting back from the movie, and turning the computer on so my brother could do homework.. It errored 4 or 5 times (I say 4 or 5 because I'm not sure whether counted a fifth one, or only anticipated it and made myself think it errored a 5th time). I havn't tried stopping the...
Whoa... This gets more confusing every day... My mom turned the computer on to view show times for a movie at the local AMC, and I sat down to skip past the "Windows did not shut down properly, what would you like to do?" screens. Afterall, it's the nice thing to do on her birthday. Anyway...
