I did it both ways several times. Made no difference.

The USB stick I'm using is a 16GB SanDisk drive. It's quality. Has served me well for years I don't think going for a cheaper drive would help. CSM Boot appears to be disabled by default. The Only NVMe option I see is enabling RAID, which isn't relevant.
