Looking for a software to replace Gemstar GUIDE Plus.

I looked at Sage TV and Beyond TV. Both are vast improvements over ATI's sucky GUIDE PLus. I wasn't able to use either due to other problems (sound card and sound system type problems). I've recently made some changes to my system and may try them again and see if they're any better. If that...

    Probably a dumb question

Does the Intel 865PE chipset, specifically as applied to an ABIT IS7 mobo, support Hard Drives (parallel OR serial) larger than 137 Gb natively or does special software need to be used??? Thanks, BTW - It's been a while since I've been active on this forum... still looks like a great place...

Will OLD BH6 1.1 Mobo support 133-bus cpu

Hi - I have an older BH6 1.1 (Slot 1) mother board in a computer that's been around a few years. I've gotten an opportunity to get a PIII 800 Slot 1 processor dirt cheap (we're salvaging out an old server at work). The hitch is that it's an EB (i.e. 133 mhz bus). Can this CPU work with my...

Why are P-III 800's and 850's selling so high on ebay

I've been contemplating upgrading an old BH6 based computer with a new faster CPU. The mobo will support up to an 850 (100 fsb) - Slot 1. I've been checking on eBay and it seems like the prices they are selling for (even used ones) are outrageous. I can buy an new mobo and P4 2G or higher for...

    TDK 32x10x40

Anybody have any experiences (negative as well as positive) with this drive??? I saw them at Costco (Corona, CA) for $169 with a $30 rebate. Drive is also bundled with some TDK blanks (10 I think). Thanks, - Ray

    Last Resort Sound Reduction

Here's a link to a company that makes cases for computers used in recording studios. They are beautiful and effective but VERY PRICEY. If you are or know a good carpenter you probably could get something together for a lot less $. http://www.custom-consoles.com/isomac.html Good luck - - Ray

    new floppy drive won't work

In addition to the suggestions of the 3 previous posters I would suggest that you check in your CMOS/BIOS/SETUP screens and see if the 'floppy seek' is disabled (might be called something different in various BIOSes).

Anybody use a Roland Daughterboard on Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard

I'm wondering if any of you geniuses could make some suggestions on how to get a Roland Sound Canvas Daughterboard midi synth to work on the "waveblaster" header of my new Santa Cruz (by Turtle Beach). I had the DB working on an old ISA SoundBlaster 16. The Roland website (www.rolandus.com)...

    BA Fry's ECS K7S5A + OEM Duron 1 GHz = $89 til 1/17

This looks like it turning into a Frys thread... Anyway, the ad in Orange County (CA) has an ECS K7S5A plus Athlon XP 1700+ for $179.00, which seems like a good deal. I've been frantically reading all the K7S5A threads and I think I'll take the plunge on the way home from work today.

    K7S5A killing me? HELP ME

Regarding your CMOS checksum errors... I did a search on this form on K7S5A and found several threads indicating that, at least some, of these mobos are shipping with dead or nearly dead CMOS batteries. You can buy a replacement a RadioShack for about 3 bucks.

Audigy vs. Santa Cruz on Athlon XP platform?

The guy here (http://www.pcavtech.com/soundcards/compare/index.htm) rates the Santa Cruz highest of the non-professional cards; although I'm not sure if the Audigy has been rated yet. Anyway, check the site out.

A question about the old Abit BH6

I have a BH6 (v1.1) and I don't think it will work. I believe the problem is with the "multiplier"... I think 8.5 is the max; so 8.5 x 100 is 850 max (or for the Cel 8.5 x 66 is 566). Did you try emailing Abit??? And, perhaps some of the other folks might be able to give an answer from their...
