Affordable, healthy fish for non-fish fans?

Surimi just means ground meat. Kanikama is fake crab, and it's only about 50% fish, the rest is additives and water. High in salt and low in protein, not nearly as healthy as true fish.

Did my fiancee do anything wrong?

I love this generality that HR has no idea about the jobs that they are interview for. The HR model has been shifting to the business partner / strategic partner model for quite awhile now, and any decent HR department has employees who know the business just as well as the employees. I go...

What is your anticipated bonus this year?

2010 incentive (to be paid in March) is 19.75%. Shooting for max opportunity this year, but it'll depend on our production rate.

Unemployed in FL may have to volunteer to get benefit checks

Mostly correct. Different states deal with UI differently, but it never comes from the employee. To claim that it comes from money that would have gone to the employee is ridiculous. If we get a lower experience rating from the state, that money saved doesn't go to the employee. However...

Our coworker is going to hate us

You should probably read up on McDonnell Douglas framework. All an employee has to do is show prima facie case by a preponderance of the evidence (read: allege a claim of discrimination, regardless of what the employer states.) That is enough to cause a financial hit on the employer, not to...

Our coworker is going to hate us

Right-to-work deals with union membership; at-will deals with the employment relationship. The previous poster was talking about at-will (which is quite a ridiculous concept nowadays. Guyver states that you could fire someone for having "blonde hair" and that person could easily come back a...

Our coworker is going to hate us

Wow...I'm HR and you're more uptight than anyone who works in my company; IT, HR, Finance, or otherwise. We'd most definitely laugh that one off (unless there was physical property damage) and move on. P.S. IT would have your ass? Love to see the day when they call the shots.

    Sometimes my job rocks :)

Woohoo...your HR department apparently views you as non-exempt and the company is reaping the benefits of classifying you as exempt...and you think it's awesome! Win for HR.

uhohs' japanese idol music thread 1

Someone's missing the sarcasm. Thought the use of "profound lyrics" would have indicated to anyone who actually understood Japanese. J-pop is horrible in the majority.

Our coworker is going to hate us

Yep, and in an office of 948, if you aren't a protected class, that would lead me to say "harden up princess." Possibly without the "princess." Be glad to be challenged from an unprotected class with a workplace harassment claim on a singular incident like that.

uhohs' japanese idol music thread 1

Uhohs, I love you. People who can't understand Japanese are missing out on the profound lyrics that are being presented and have no point commenting...

Our coworker is going to hate us

And, given the assumption he is not one of the protected classes, I would tell him to "harden up princess."

    Discriminating Against Muslims in Hiring

Actually, from a federal standpoint, with 8 employees Title VII does not apply. I'm not sure what state he's in, so it could still be illegal, but not from a federal law standpoint.
