Old router is a Linksys BEFSR41
New router is a US Robotics Wireless G router
Reason im switching is because i wanted a wireless network. Just so happened that i noticed the ridiculously slow speeds of the new router, and then tried a direct connection as well, which went equally as slow.
Ok, well how would i go about checking/changing this? Seems like it makes sense though, unfortunately im not a guru in networking and wouldnt know how to test this out :
thanks!
Im having this very strange problem, where when i remove the router from my network, my internet performs at about 1/5 the normal speed. It does this for every computer on my network. The reason im writing this is because i recently purchased a new router, and noticed that internet was...
Yes I am using the 1009 BIOS build. I have no extra peripherals connected to my computer right now. Here is a breakdown of what I've got:
Asus A8V Deluxe
Athlon 64 3200+

OCZ 2x512mb DDR400 Dual Channel EL
WD Raptor 10,000rpm 74gb
Audigy 2 ZS
ViewSonic E90f+SB

It was doing the same thing when i tried the via controller. Not sure what else to check, or what alot of the others BIOS options do, I've just been trying stuff ppl have been telling me. Any settings in particular i should check into? what should they be set to?
Thx for the help!
So i just got an Asus A8V Deluxe with a socket 939 3200+. All is working well so far... except the boot process is TERRIBLY long. I have quick boot enabled, and logo disabled. I have the SATA bootROM disabled as i am using the promise controller. Here's what is happening though. After the first...
Noticed something really strange... sometimes the comp will just randomly work upon restarting it. This is why i thought certain things were fixed the issue before because the comp was working fine, only to find out later on that once i restarted it, they were back again... that said, i can no...
I have tried setting aperature size to 128mb and 256mb, I am currently running the most recent WHQL certified drivers (whql drivers should not be bugged at all) but I have also tried some old 61.xx drivers. Plus I have tried an entirely different video card as well...
Ok I checked the log, the only error it has logged within the past 3 days is one on Nov. 22, however it does this every few minutes, so that doesnt seem to be an accurate indicator. One interesting thing though. I tried formatting the comp, and it worked great for a couple days straight... then...
Hmmmm.... thanks anonymouseuser, i will take a look at that!
Eighty, How do i view the XP event viewer? (ctr-alt-del and look at processes or what?) And I do have the most recent IDE controller drivers installed for my mobo (they are packaged with the nforce3 drivers off the nvidia website -...
ok i removed the audigy 2 card, but was not able to get the onboard sound to work... i must have missed something, because the comptuer didnt not recognize that i had any sound device running (volume controls were greyed out, etc.) I thought the option to enable onboard audio was in the BIOS. I...
hehe ok, I've tried another video card as well, so its not the fact that it's an nvidia ;)
I have updated the bios to the most recent version (1006)
My system has always run at very good temps, so i dont think it could be heat damage
Hmmm, havnt looked at the PSU yet, but i just bought...
Yah i thought that at first too. The airflow is very good, and temperatures are very good too.
system temp: 30°
cpu temp 39°
GPU temp 59° (threshold was set at 120° by default, so im assuming 59° is normal for a GPU)
I have two intake fans on the front, outtake on the back and top.
