Thanks guys.. I got it booting again. You were right about the FSB being to high. Funny thing was that I could have sworn I cleared the CMOS (was using a screw driver to short the pins) because I had a feeling about the FSB. Well this time I took the battery out and shorted the pins with a...
Hi,
I really need help on this. I can't even boot up. :( I've been reading ton and tons of post while waiting for my mobo to come in.. Anycase I finally received everything today. Here's what I have:
Asus A7M266
2 x Crucial CT3264Z265 (256MB, PC2100 DDR)
Millenium 2 PCI card and a NVIDEA...
I just bought a ASUS A7M266, and I didn't think about what type of memory it supports. Obviously it supporst DDR PC1600 and DDR PC2100, but can it use my old SDRAM? I'm hoping I don't have to buy new ones..
This is the RAM I have, SDRAM PC133 256MB NP.
Here's the link to specifics...
Yah it was wierd that it's not backward compatable.. The tech said he got a lot of support questions on the board giving out a blank screen when using the 1.3GHz. I don't want to risk the board not working and having to pay restocking fee.. so I'm going to return the P4 and just get a AMD...
Opps I should have mention that the ASUS P4T doesn't support the 1.3GHz P4 because the 1.3's came out after the 1.4GHz and the ASUS Tech support said it would take them about a month to make them backward compatable.. which may or maynot happen. :(
I just contacted ASUS about it.. they said it won't work because the ID of the 1.3GHz P4 has a ID that tells the BIOS on the P4T what it is.. and what has been known to happen is that the screen would hang because of it. :(
Ah.. that would make sense. I was actually hoping (well praying) that this would be the case. I was totally caught off guard when I read the ratings of the P4T.
I ordered a 1.3GHz P4 for a great deal, but then realized that the motherboard I was planning to get, ASUS P4T (ATX) is rated at 1.4-1.5 GHz P4s. Considering that the chipset and slot type is the same, shouldn't I be able to use the 1.3GHz on this board? If I have to overclock I will.
FYI...
I was flashing a ABIT BE6 Motherboard (which uses Award BIOS).. and after flashing, the system would not boot. Is there a way to redo this, or am I screwed?
Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
