How do I know which speaker wire is + and -?? Anyway to test it?

Yep. 9V battery will work. Honestly though, in all practicality it makes zero difference to sound quality for HT application...movies do not preserve absolute phase in the soundtrack.

    Software upscaling?

It depends on the level of videophile you are. There are a whole series of tests to determine the quality of your upscaling, but for general consumer use the advice you have is sound and solid.

I Now finallly bought the sens HD800 and ordered the JH13 IEMs yesturday

I haven't played with the final version of the JH13, but I did hear a beta version of these a while ago...Apopka (JH headquarters) is about an hour and a half from my office. I have heard several iterations of the Ultimate Ears models (up to 10) at the annual trade shows. If either factory is...

I Now finallly bought the sens HD800 and ordered the JH13 IEMs yesturday

The JH-13 are excellent cans; if you're considering custom fittings certainly look at Ultimate Ears UE11 Pro as well. At this point, the different sound qualities are almost like your preference in automobiles; do you prefer the driving style of a Mercedes, BMW, or Audi? All of the...

I Now finallly bought the sens HD800 and ordered the JH13 IEMs yesturday

This is incorrect, because all CD players, DACs have an output stage of specified impedance and output voltage. I assume you're basing this statement on reading various forums and never having actually played with a pair? Have you ever tried plugging a pair of reference-class Grados or...

I Now finallly bought the sens HD800 and ordered the JH13 IEMs yesturday

Ah, TungFree the piece fully named is California Audio Labs Alpha Tube DAC...quite the mouthful I know! modWright is an aftermarket specialist...no need to worry about him right now. 320 compression is fine for now...and I believe the headphones will make a bigger difference than the cans...

    Considering building home theater

Rectangular is usually the best you can reasonably expect; just try to make it where the three measured dimensions are not too close to one another (i.e. 9 x 13 x 22 would be a good room, 10 x 10 x 10 would be the worst). The reason for this are that parallel walls create standing sound waves...

    T-Mobile Insurance plan

Sprint and Verizon both have deductibles...I actually just found out the hard way my Sprint deductible went up to $100 because I have a smartphone. I'm canceling the policy now...I remember when it used to be $25...sigh.

    Considering building home theater

IB subs are absolutely awesome; in an isolated room they're the way to go but if you're not careful they turn into a soundproofing nightmare :). Speaking of soundproofing, you should really get yourself some Acoustiblok (www.acoustiblok.com). When *properly* installed, there's nothing...

    Considering building home theater

EliteRetard - I design and build home theaters for a living. When you're ready to get started and need some free advice drop me a line...I'll be happy to draw up some sketches and give you a checklist. As for budget, if you're going to go dual display (flat panel + motorized projector screen...

Tungfree - You may decide to take my words with a grain of salt; my qualifications are that I was a recording engineer for years and I currently work as an architectural engineer designing and build reference home theaters and listening rooms for my occupation. I've been a loyal Sennheiser...

ATAV&H/T - Build My Home Theater

As far as receivers go, I wouldn't mess with anything that's not a Denon, Onkyo, or Integra...certainly in the $400-800 price range. I prefer the Denon CI (custom installation) series for it's extraordinary flexibility, but Onkyo's Integra line is very comparable. While I know Pioneer Elite has...

ATAV&H/T - Build My Home Theater

Well if it's a sub you want, it's a sub you should get :). I'd recommend the SVS PC25-31...you can pick one up used to certainly fit in your budget (disclaimer: my company is a retailer for SVS). Are you opposed to purchasing used? I think speakers are one of the safest purchases to buy...
