Performance is spot on. Both CPU and GPU overclock well. Benchmarks put it near the top of the pack, 1500pts in Heaven Max'd 60fps, 1080P. But GPU heat can get close to 76 so later on, I upgraded the stock 92mm Gigabyte GPU fan to a 120mm Yate Loon. Very quiet now. Better cooling. Doesn't...

I know I'm resurrecting the thread, but I registered to post this. I had the same problem as you.
Out-of-the box the Asus Maximus IV Extreme has eSATA disabled.
Until you "enable" eSATA in the BIOS, it just won't work!
I believe is is labeled JMB or something similar...
