    The Via Latency patch fixes alot of issues, especially between sound cards and M/B's with Via Chipsets. Make sure you have the latest 4-in-1 drivers installed first. You can get both the drivers and the patch here.

    But your SB might be the source of your problem. SB and Via have a bad track record together. Try the built-in sound card and see if it fixes the freezing.     Also, FYI, in a lot of the Vortex 2 cards, the first (front) channel is not amplified, and if you use headphones and nonpowered speakers, you are supposed to use the rear channel. (it detects if front and/or back channels are being used). I finally read the manual and that is what it said to do!

    On your Via M/B, do you have built-in sound? If so, remove your SB and try the onboard audio. You also might try the Via Latency patch available here.

    On the M700, you remove the keyboard to add ram. Look for 4 latches at the top of the Keyboard between the keys. Press on them and slide them back. Hope this helps. Rudy
