By multithreaded... do you mean that when I open Task Manager I should see two instances of ati2evxx.exe and CLI.exe running? I only noticed them after I installed the Catalyst 6.8 drivers from ATI's website.
OK... so I put the FSB down to 250MHz and the VCORE to default. I just finished running Prime95, two instances, for six hours with no errors and no warnings and ThrottleWatch reported no throttling even with it enabled in the BIOS.
So I guess until I get a heatsink/fan that's better than...
I used ThrottleWatch on my Pentium D 930 @ 4GHz while running an instance of Prime95 on each core. Temperatures were hitting 75 degrees C with a 1.4V VCORE and ThrottleWatch was showing spikes of 11% throttling (I'm assuming this means that 11 out of every 100 cycles were idle, which makes me...
So I found out that I can disable throttling in my P5LD2. I did disable it and dropped the VCORE down to 1.35V from 1.4V and now temperatures at full load are stable at 72 degrees C. Still warm, I know, but the CPU isn't throttling anymore.
Oh yeah, and stable for two hours so far at the...
What board and heatsink/fan are you using? The temperature I was reporting was at the same voltage as you, 1.4V, but you seem to be getting about 10 degrees lower.
So how much throttling is allowed in order for me to reap the benefits of a 1000GHz overclock? ThrottleWatch reported 11% spikes every thirty seconds or so while two instances of Prime95 were running on my chip at 4GHz. Is there a way to disable CPU throttling? Is it safe to do so?
Prime95 is going on it's 8th hour right now running two instances. I ran the small in place FFT test on the first core and the blend test on the second core. I'm using stock cooling on an Asus P5LD2. 1024MB of Corsair PC5400 running at 667MHz (4-4-4-12). At 100% full load on each core, this...
