Killing Them Softly . . . Our Policies

Screw the whole "contraversy" approach, who says that ANY country MUST contribute ANYTHING to another country? Hell, if your so bent on "helping" send your money WILLINGLY, why should someone tell you what and where it's going? Some people may not wish to contribute to certain...

What is difference between ti 4600 and 4800?

The 4800 is a 4200 w/AGP8X, the SE model of the 4800 uses lower clocked RAM.

    HL2 screenshot differences

As per M$, the ATI DX9 parts were built to conform to the standard, ie M$ endorses that fact. Nv is closer? Then why is that the Nv3x is having so much trouble implementing DX9 features "better" than ATI, what is it driver bugs??? Everyone who runs an Nv product always makes it a point to point...

Take DX9 labeling off of fx chips?

Opps! sorry, I quoted the wrong post. I was replying to whomever said that D3 was better on the Nv3x, that is nothing but fantasy. Sorry :)

Yes - what you saw, HOWEVER so did game developers. When saving a screenshot of AM3 there SHOULD be a loss of quality on cards running DX9 precision (ie FP24bit or better), nothing too major but some missing textures, as well as some other anomalies, a glitch in the screen capture capability was...

    About nVidia and Det 50

Go to the thread you quote Balderdash (I respond to that in there as well :) ), he says the above... sounds good, then a developer steps in and tells Balderdash WHY that WON'T help, but to sum it up --- >it's a H/W deficiency that NO driver can fix. ;)

Take DX9 labeling off of fx chips?

FUD! Carmack clearly stated the NV3x was not using the ARB2 path, and he has coded for the NV3x by lowering precision (FX12/FP16) within his "special NV3x path", ie few if any advanced shaders, lower precision etc... He did say that ATI cards run the ARB2 path slightly slower than his special...

LOL! NVidia is now pulling these drivers as they "weren't meant for the public". Seems this was an AquaMark driver leak, get the numbers up, and not releasing them to the public may be their way of covering their @$$ to the scrutiny these drivers would recieve (and have). 44.03 to 45.23...

    Half-life 2 Performance: Breaking news

Hey BFG10K You forgot to mention that currently HDR is not implemented in the FX series drivers. If they ever bother turning on HDR and run a "PURE DX9" driver, the performance issue the FX series has gets worse. D3 in OGL STILL needs to be "optimized- NV TM" by Carmack to be playable, as...

Will Nvidia PWN ATi once Doom III is released?

Oh, I forget: NVidia DX9 = slow, API must be dumbed down to be playable. - This and NVidia hasn't even implemented HDR effects in their driver yet, so if you run a "pure NV DX9 driver (an oxymoron at this point in time), and they ADD HDR, they'd be even SLOOOOWER.

Will Nvidia PWN ATi once Doom III is released?

Yes, it would probably be faster, however, that's when comparing it running a "special NV3x backend" utilizing FX12 w/a little FP16 for IQ because it runs ARB2 very slow (as per JC) vs ATI defaulting to the ARB2 path (no optimizations just a R2x00/R3x00 FP24 path), hence you'll have a slightly...

    Half-life 2 Performance: Breaking news

Well I bought the FX5800U when it came out, couldn't stand the noise, so I bought a 9800P to replace it, I still have the 5800U (back in it's box) and I may keep it because they dropped the line entirely, kind of like a collectors item. I had 3 5900U's on other machines at home, replaced ALL of...

    Half-life 2 Performance: Breaking news

Duh! I can't find an edit option (not used to this board layout). Some interesting read here. As for Aquamark go READ their pages, you CANNOT consider it a DX9 benchmark as it will do PS 1.1 - 1.4 depending on what it detects as capability, that said the FX WILL be using PS 1.4 (w/lower...
