I enjoy my Gmaill. Mostly for the few number of keystrokes to get to my inbox + plus the barebones low bandwidth layout of google pages. As far as I have observed Gmail is at least as good as any other webmail service.
The invites in my opinion are just a gimmick to get people interested...
