Thanks for the response..
yes the 4pin power plug near the CPU is connected. I didn't know about that power switch trick.. I'll try it.. hope it doesn't short anything on the mobo!!!
So it's ok to start the system without a CPU fan right?
I'm frustrated with my new build and maybe a little ticked off by this build-it-myself thingy by now.. wastes so much time that i'm contemplating decent pre-builts Core2 configs by HP and Dell that sell for under $300 these days..
Please help a fewllow builder out.. dont' let me fall prey to...
Apologies if you thought you'd seen the last of me bugging the hell out of y'all.. but that ECS mobo was a *&&^%%$#@$%^%^ piece of garbage..
ok.. *deep breath* .. not entirely, the layout was acceptable, better than some others, the specs were great.. but it had to come at some price...
wow looks like a good performer at an awesome price.. no wonder it's out of stock! :)
well i'm gonna go ahead and order the mobo..
thanks y'all u're the best.
My power supply on the old computer died (Enermax Whisper.. guess they are just as likely to die as the no name stuff) and I have decided to do the CHEAPEST reasonable upgrade as I can. Replacing mobo, cpu, ram and of course power supply.
So I've been eyeballing parts but I can't find a...
If u have the Patriot DDR2-667 CAS4 then that's the one I have .. the memory will require changes in timing and raising the voltage beyond 400MHz..
I've mine doing 450 by Vdimm +0.1 and 5-4-4-12 timings. Try these..
AND if one FSB doesn't work.. try something higher.. sometimes just the...
I have the exact same CPU/Mobo/Memory setup as yourself.. (don't have that sexy xtx though *drool*)
Your memory can do 5-4-4-12 when overclocked. I'm running at 450MHz FSB right now for stability and stock voltages all over.. Only voltage increase I needed was Vdimm to +0.1
I think exhausts are more important.. but the Lanboy fails there too cuz there are no passive exhaust vents..
To counter that u may want to go the modding route and play with the plastic transparent cover.. design some slits into it for passive airflow.. as long as u'r exhaust is efficient...
