    Over 30 people looked at this and no responses. I guess it's not a common problem. I called Asus Tech Support and they told me to upgrade the BIOS. I did and now the CPU temp reads about 17 degrees C. which is still colder than the room. RMA to Newegg.

    I'm not Beagle, but I can tell you I'm running the final F4 and have no problems shutting down. I am not overclocking.

    Try briefly shorting out the CLR_CMOS jumper which is located next to the battery. Nothing fancy, just turn off the board, use a screwdriver to lightly touch both pins at once.
