Using slightly more conservative numbers I was able to push it out some, my CPU-Z screen now say's Core Speed 2700.0 and it was like 1700. But I'm still confused what this all means, is this telling me that each core is running at 2.7 for a total of 5.4 when this chip is rated at 2.4...

I too have a system much like this and have had zero luck with attempting to overclock at all. What would be very helpful for me (newbie) would be a step by step guide to all the best BIOS settings. In my case its: E6600 C2D 2 x 512MB Kingston HyperX DDR2 8500 (1066) memory 1004 Bios...
